I’m a lover of paradox. It feels much richer and truthful to me than most else. And funnier. There’s some heart to it. Wilde was a genius paradox giver:
I can resist anything but temptation.
I find a lot of the comedy out there now tiring. And Frank Chimero has articulated the why beautifully. Of course its just a lot of fine, rational reasoning being applied to jokes.
I’ve been spending the past few days thinking about paradoxes. Good jokes. Good concepts. Good design. I think all three share a firm foot in the realm of paradox.
